Jan Šafář

Jan is a Technology Innovation Engineer on ESA's Navigation Innovation and Support Programme (NAVISP), where he assesses emerging PNT technologies across application domains. His earlier career with the General Lighthouse Authorities of the UK & Ireland centred on developing and validating resilient maritime PNT and communications systems, including eLoran, R-Mode and absolute radar positioning. He has contributed to standards and policy development at IALA, IEC, ITU and IMO, and provided technical expertise to the UK Government on eLoran. He served as Technical Secretary to the first International eLoran Standardisation Conference (2025) and led an expert group session at the second.
